1963 born in Munich, lives in Berlin
Most of his work uses long exposures to document movement, architecture and landscape. Normally his landscape work is based on the colours of the landscape rather than the details of the landscape.

This image shows two girls sitting with a couloured blanket over their laps. I think this image will have been taken using a 20 second exposure so working from that it will have had an ISO of 100 and an aperture somewhere about F29. I like this image because it uses lots of the formal elements of a portrait but uses a long exposure to blur the image, it’s like a half portrait. The foreground of the image with the people in it is well lit but the background is very dark and dull. I think this partly down to the environment they are in but is also down to the clothes the people are wearing, they are light and colorful and so reflect more light than the background.

This image is a landscape image from a series called Landscape west of Gölsdorf. I think it was taken from a moving vehicle such as a train. He used a long exposure to take the image, probably only about 10 seconds. This would make the aperture about F25 and the iso about 100.
I like how abstract the image is, it is obvious it’s a landscape but the only thing that defines it are the colours and where they are on the page, there are no details of the landscape. I think he is trying to broadly show the colours of the landscape. I like the abstract nuss of the image and i this will be a technique I explore in future.

This image is a long exposure image of an art gallery in Berlin. It uses a 3 minute exposure, probably with an iso of 50 and an aperture of about F36  or something similar. The image despite the noise caused by the people moving has very effective leading lines which lead the eyes of the viewer forward to the end of the room.  This is the sort of image I want to create using very long exposures which show the movement of the people in the image.
